Internal Fit-Out for Valerie’s Tearoom, Whitley Bay
Valerie’s Tearoom, part of the illustrious North East venue, Spanish City, is a traditional and sophisticated tearoom offering an assortment of breakfast and brunch options as well as freshly-baked pastries and cakes.
In 2018, the iconic Spanish City building (originally constructed in 1910) was renovated and reopened to the public, and in 2023, as part of the continued refurbishment works, we were contracted to complete a full internal fit-out of the tearooms.
The project had a fast turnaround and required a rigorous programme of work as the tearoom could only be closed for renovation for ten days.
Firstly, we stripped out the existing fixed seating, ceilings, lighting and serving counter.
The space then required an electrical reconfiguration in order to accommodate the new lighting, which was completed by our experienced electricians.
Our team then re-decorated the space, completing all aspects of the internal fit-out from painting and wallpapering to building plasterboard arches on site and renewing the wood panelling on the walls.
The tearoom was also fitted with a new serving counter and seating.
Taking inspiration from Spanish City’s past life and incorporating design features that harked back to 1910, we worked alongside our interior design partners, Q Interiors, on this project. You can find out more about the interior design process here.
